Virgin Lobster is cooked

Virgin LobsterVirgin Mobile has not sold even 10,000 TV-enabled Lobster handsets, despite significant advertising costs (Pamela Anderson doesn’t come cheap I am sure) and slashing the price to less than £100.

Not really surprising, given the ugly, dated, look of the handset. Sure people want to own the latest and greatest, and mobile TV is certainly cutting edge. But just as important is the look of the handset - I can’t imagine any gadget freak whipping this out of their pocket in the bar and feeling proud.

It’s not clear how much of an impact the limited channels and technology itself had on the pathetic sales, but that would be impossible to tell without an attractive handset bundled with it.
