China set to overtake the US in internet usage
The China Internet Network Information Center (catchy, eh?) says that within 2 years, China will have more internet users than the US. By the end of 2006, the total had hit 137m users - an increase of 23% on 2005 - equivalent of 10% of the population.
China is notorious for its censorship of websites - the CINIC is one of many state controlled groups that attempts to stop Chinese internet users having freedom of access. This is despite the Chinese government insisting that its regulation of the internet is in line with the rest of the world. Right.
